Friends Center City Retirement Community needs your help!

Help us spread the Word!

Our mailing list has grown significantly (over 700 people in January 2008!), and we continue to work on spreading the word about FCCRC. In this area, we could use your help.

Here are two things you can do to help us spread the word:

1.  Click on the letter to prospective members which you can personalize and send to your friends, neighbors, colleagues, etc. If each of us sends several of these letters, we should be well on our way towards our goal.

2.  Click here to print our poster (in Microsoft Word format) which you can place on bulletin boards at work, church, clubs, bookstores.

Support FCCRC with a Financial Contribution!

At our annual meeting, discussion arose around contributions and membership, specifically whether the minimum contribution of $100 per person is required in order to remain on the FCCRC mailing list.  The board wishes to make clear that no contribution is necessary at this time simply to remain on the mailing list.  Based on questions and concerns at the meeting, however, the board wishes to offer the following:

FCCRC is soliciting funds from its friends and interested parties because this year will be its most challenging and critical year.  We need to raise a significant amount this year for such basic “Start-up Year” costs as assistance from specialized consultants, the salary of our part-time coordinator, and technical site investigations.  While we are pursuing foundation grants (to date we have received $18,000 from two sources), foundations also require proof that our members are doing their share before they contribute to our cause.

We believe that the mutual project we all envision--a non-profit, self-driven, lively urban community based on shared values of care and concern--is desired and needed in Center City Philadelphia.  We want such a community to be there for us, when and if we are ready, but also we are creating a legacy, an institution of unique and exciting worth which will transcend our own lifetimes.

The real help is needed now, not years down the road when the project has moved from vision to comfortable reality.  Urban people, we are told, tend to be more forward looking--risk takers.  We are asking you to believe--to join in and “catch the vision.”

To the many who have already given and given generously, we thank you on behalf of all of us.  To those who have yet to give, we ask you to think of the exciting challenge before us at this moment in time, and do all you can.
